As Greece is undergoing extensive digital transformation across sectors and verticals, emerging disruptive technologies (EDTs) such as 5G/6G, XR, VR, AI/ML are expected to have a major impact on the public sector, businesses, and society.
In line with the above, the European Digital Innovation Hub for Digital Governance (GR digiGOV-innoHUB) and the p-NET Competence Center, are organizing a focused workshop, involving the main stakeholders of Government, Research, Business and Society, to highlight the main opportunities and untapped potential from such technologies.
The workshop will take place on 25 October 2023 at the Foundation of the Hellenic Cosmos Cultural Center (254 Pireos St., Athens).
OUR GOAL
This event aims to build a bridge between government officials and technology experts from business and academia. It will spotlight the accelerating technology trends most relevant to the Greek Government, the potentials they create and pave the way towards the definition of practical interventions to accelerate testing, deployment and adoption of emerging technologies.
It proposes the establishment of nation-wide support measures for the creation of a set of Testbeds / Sandboxes for conducting pilot projects leading to Innovation challenges and solutions of emerging technologies in the following sectors:
- Education / Culture / Tourism
- Smart Ports / Industry 4.0
- Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR)
- Smart City / Smart Island – Digital Twins / Metaverse

The event is co-organized by the European Digital Innovation Hub for Digital Governance (GR digiGOV-innoHUB), an innovation hub for digital governance, and p-NET Emerging Networks and Services, a R&I driven Competence Center.
The European Digital Innovation Hub for Digital Governance (GR digiGOV-innoHUB) supports the development of a new generation of public services based on advanced digital technologies (AI, ML, IoT, Blockchain, HPC), with open source, open data and open standards. The Innovation Hub aims to develop an ecosystem of digital transformation actors by promoting innovation in Public Administration through the National Digital Portal for Public Services gov.gr.
GR digiGOV-innoHUB is led by the National Infrastructures for Research and Technology (GRNET) and is supported by the country’s leading Academic and Research Institutions specializing in AI, HPC and digiGOV. The Hub is also supported by an array of business, regional authorities and civil society organizations that have expressed their willingness to participate.
p-NET Emerging Networks & Services is a Competence Center in the field of -5G smart networks and services. It aims to support businesses with an emphasis on strengthening vertical value chains and sustainability and promote innovation and entrepreneurship. p-NET develops technological and innovative solutions leading to exportable products and services of high added value, while capitalizing on the strengths and potential of the Greek ICT ecosDimitris Varoutas,ystem. p-NET has 21 partners representing industrial and business sectors, research and academia, public authorities, consulting and entrepreneurship companies.
